• Used by engineers and machinists for rapid removal of metal
• The cross section, which is rounded on one side and flat on the other, allows file to be used effectively on convex and concave surfaces.
• Tapered toward the points in width and thickness
• Half round files are used for rounding out holes and filing concave, convex and flat surfaces. These files are rounded on one side and flat on the other.
• Single cut files consist of one set of parallel, diagonal teeth extended across the face of the file. They are used for sharpening or to produce a smooth finish. Double cut files consist of two sets of teeth crisscrossing each other at opposite angles. They are used for heavy stock removal.
• Smooth cut files are finer files and have the most teeth per inch. They are used for detailing and fine finishing work.
